Open Source Documentary
To Start an Open Documentary
Clickmovement.org has officially started work on their first open source film.
We are looking for:
- Artists
- Film-makers
- Researchers
- Writers (as you can see)
- Designers
- People with ideas
The Film's About
The film is about the foundation of Mozilla.org (Source of firefox, thunderbird, other awesome internet apps). We want to start by looking at how and why the project started and then examine how it has effected the internet community.
What Material
Since we will be operating on a minimal budget, unless we suddenly get an influx of money and resources, we will primarily be working with:
- The 100 hours of source footage from the documentary Code Rush.
- Self interviews
- Footage shot by volunteers
- Animations provided by clickmovement.org
- Animations by volunteer designers
Open Source
In many ways this film is going to be a proof of concept. We want to show that the open source idea, can apply to more than just programming. We think it can breed a better, more honest kind of documentary film making.
Because if anything should be free, uncut, and open to everyone, it is the presentation of ideas.
In short /TLDR:
If you are interested in joining a rag-tag group of open source obsessed film makers hell bent on making a film about the origins of firefox, this is the project for you. .
So Contact Us! and will get you access to the collaboration area.
Every contributor will get credited in the final film, even if all you did was vote on the title.
And if, you do good work we will be happy to provide you with a reference for any actual paying jobs you might be interested in.
