Project Artist Collaborative
What we want to do!
We want to use Drupal, an open source content management system like wordpress, to create an online collaborative art community. This community would include all types of artists, not just the studio arts, but musicians actors, filmmakers, and so on. Any artist that wants a space online where they can share their ideas, photos, music, and have other people see and comment on them will be given their own project space.
Managing this space may be difficult for some of the less tech savy artists, so as an additional part of the project we are going to create video tutorials for all important site features.
What will Users be able to do on this site?
Artists will be able to post music, videos, images, html, text, links. Pretty much anything they want.
Regular users will be able to post forum topics and comments.
Artists will get their own dedicated url. Ex: site.com/JeffTheArtist , with complete autonomy. As long as you don't go outside the terms of service of our host or create spammy content, we won't edit your page.
Users will be able to create their own blog, and send personal messages to each other and the artists.
How we are going to do it?
- Build the site
- Get web hosting
- Promote
For hosting we want to get a VP Server so we can handle a good amount of traffic and user uploads. This should run about 400$ a year. For promotion we are going to rely on a couple methods, mostly word of mouth, but also a small online campaign. Luckily we have a volunteer who has experience with internet marketing so we won't be wasting money trying to compete in the wrong places.
What your money will go towards
- Buying Web Hosting

- Advertising the site
- Hiring third party developers
Why this project?
This is project is based on the idea, that art florishes best when ideas are freely exchanged. That copyrighting ideas hinders progress, and that art should be open source*. There are few things that are as important to the progress of man than the progress of art.
*You don't need to agree with us to have space on the site.
